An excerpt from the finale (Songs 23&24), of ‘Orpheus and Izanagi. I wrote an interlude that overlays Vaughan Williams ‘Orpheus with his lute’ onto Purcell Fairest Isle (Songs 3&4) to provide a memory of Orpheus’ music as his decapitated head and lyre float down the river to their resting place.
